Chequered Skipper - Favourite Photo of 2023
Week 3
Another week on and despite there still being some butterflies about hopefully these Favourite threads are brightening the evenings!
Please could I ask that everyone waits until a topic has been opened by me for a particular species before posting photos as then it will be easier to keep track of things? Of course our overseas members are very welcome to fill in the obvious gaps relating to rare UK migrants. As in previous years details of locations, dates, times and circumstances would be welcome as would any accompanying stories and anecdotes or other observations of behaviour and interesting other points.
Have a goodun
Wurzel

Re: Chequered Skipper - Favourite Photo of 2022
I visited Glasdrum NNR at the end of May 2023 hoping to catch a glimpse of the chequered skipper. It was a bright sunny
morning and I wasn't disappointed.
Attached are the best photos
of the ones I took.
Cheers,
Bert.

Thanks David.
I have visited Glasdrum NNR a few times now and always had a great day photographing these gorgeous butterflies.
I have pretty much covered all the Scottish butterflies now but looking forward to expanding my travels down south to see a few more species next year.

I helped with the monitoring of the English reintroduction and my favourite photograph is of a male that landed on my clipboard. A little different to the usual fare, but a nice reminder of some very enjoyable days catching up with fellow enthusiasts and one of my favourite species last summer.

Actually managed to see this species in 2023. Just the one, in the Aude département during my French Pyrenees trip in late May:
