A long shot perhaps

Hi all,

I've always had such great help on this forum I thought I'd start here asking for help identifying an insect which isn't a butterfly. I'm sure there will be a wider expertise and if not then a clue as to where to go would be appreciated.

This little creature has almost ceratinly come in on logs for my stove in Lincolnshire and I'm fascinated by its wing structure - never seen anything like it before. It's about 4 or 5 mm across and my lack of knowledge of entomology allows me to guess at some sort of fly.

Any ideas?

It looks like a worn Twenty Plume moth, AKA Many Plume moth

Mystery solved but what an unusual wing structure - or is it more common than I know?

It's not a rare species, but the only one of its kind in this country. The caterpillars feed on honeysuckle, so if you have that around, they will be about.
