Caterpillar identification - Vanessa cardui?

Post by Jimmy1705 »

I saw these on a patch of stinging nettle, and somebody told me they were Vanessa cardui, however I’m not too sure.

Presumably you intended to attach an image. The fact that you state them in the plural though would suggest a batch rather than singletons which would mean either Small Tortoiseshell or Peacock. Painted Lady caterpillars are solitary.
