Moved Web Pages

Post by MikeOxon »

Until very recently, I have had a small natural history website, hosted by BT. Unfortunately, BT have now ceased offing free website hosting, so I have had to move selected pages to a different location.

You can now find my 'Butterflies' pages at http://www.botanicdesign.co.uk/Butterflies/butterfl.htm

I have also moved my 'Native British Orchids' pages to http://www.botanicdesign.co.uk/NativeOr ... dshome.htm

There are probably bugs that have crept in during the move, so I may make further changes in the future.

Hi Mike
As others have said, I have enjoyed reading your diary over the years. I understand the reasons and have myself pondered on new and interesting ways of continuing with my own diary.
It is as interesting when a new diary starts as it is sad when one ends. Although I may not post much the ones I read regularly are like old friends, yours will be missed.
I look forward to your more select posts on the sightings pages :D

Mnay thanks for your friendly comments, Paul, Wurzel, and David.

I've now transferred the rest of my natural history website to http://www.botanicdesign.co.uk/Natural% ... y/home.htm but it needs a lot of updating. Another indoor task for the winter :)

Thanks for that, Mike. As you say, this should occupy your 'downtime' during the winter. I'll look forward to seeing it after it has been updated.

As a result of BT almost doubling their charges for web-hosting, my website will close early in February. If there are any items that you find of interest, i suggest you copy them soon, for your future personal use. I have not yet decided whether I will create another site with a different provider but the number of 'hits has become very small, so I will probably content myself with posts on various other websites ( including this one :) )

That's very sad, Mike. I presume you own the domain name, independently of BT, so if you do find another provider we can enjoy your photos at the same URL again. You have lovely pictures on the site, and even if you don't get hundreds of visitors a day it's still a nice way of sharing them. I've had my website for nearly 24 years now and I couldn't imagine letting go of it.

Here's to hoping! :)

Very disappointing and frustrating, Mike. I had a similar issue a couple of years ago when Photobucket suddenly decided that unless you paid a monthly fee you could no longer link your images to third party websites. Took me weeks to re-upload many dozens of photographs. :(
