No Butterflies at Wisley this Year

Post by MikeOxon »

My usual "Winter fix" is 'off' this year. The RHS say that "We are temporarily resting the Butterflies event as it has an impact on the plants in the Glasshouse at RHS Garden Wisley. We want to give the plants a break and concentrate on caring for them and bringing new and exciting plants into the collection."

That's a surprising development, Mike, although if they say it is to protect the flora then who am I to argue.

How long has the butterfly event been going?

We have known for a few months that it wasnt going ahead this year, as Surrey BC have a stall there in February.

There is a lot of building work going on in the gardens, that was one of the reasons. It has been going for about 10 years or more I reported a visit in 2009 in the Surrey Skipper Magazine.
