Re: traplican
Today I have seen: - a Brimstone (but one hasn't posed for a photo) :( - Commas - a Large Tortoiseshell sucking the sap of the tree (probably damaged by the frost) - Small Tortoiseshells - Peacocks - and Map Butterflies (regrettably without the photos). P.S.: I month ago a rare Bicolored Shrew - Cro...

Re: Twin-spot Fritillary?
Oops, my "Twin-spot Fritillary" is Lesser Marbled Fritillary male. No spots of Twin-spot Frit haven't bright centres, proximal veins of the hindwings underside are black (not brown) and also habitat doesn't match to Twin-spot.

Twin-spot Fritillary?
Yesterday I have snapped Lesser Purple Emperor , Large Tortoiseshell , Lesser Marbled Fritillary , etc. Maybe I have recorded Twin-spot Fritillaries - Brenthis hecate but I am not sure: The photos are badly focused or the specimen was too worn . I have also recorded a video (alhough I would rather s...

Re: Two grizzled skippers for ID

Re: Two grizzled skippers for ID
My wife advise me not to publish photos of butterfly in the clear box because it isn't so romantic like butterfly on the flower. She says that my photos may be popular and may propagate butterflies conservation only if the butterlies on the published photos will be free. On the other hand, there is ...

Re: Two grizzled skippers for ID
Today I have bought a clear soap box in Interspar supermarket, size 10 x 6 x 4 cm and tested it on butterflies: - Heath Fritillary - Pyrgus armoricanus - Mazarine Blue (though it is easily determinable species so it appears needless to capture one if it is possible take it to the photo without). It ...

Two grizzled skippers for ID
Today I have done a trip with the enthomological net. It is necessary for taking photos of rare skippers Pyrgus sp. ( P.armoricanus / P. alveus / P. trebevicensis / P. serratulae / P. carthami ), usable for identification. The enthomological net grid can serve as the size scale (but I have regrettab...

Re: Oberthür's Grizzled Skipper in my garden !!!
It was quite small butterfly, alveus is more larger. This butterfly wasn't larger than P. malvae. But naturally, my determination isn't definitive.

Oberthür's Grizzled Skipper in my garden !!!
Last evening after the sunset I have taken a walk across my garden and noted a skipper Pyrgus sp. with the compound wings. After the wings underside it has seemed to be a Pyrgus armoricanus for me so a have take some photos and recorded it to the video. But I haven't succeeded in looking let alone s...
