Re: millerd

Cracking collection of spring butterflies Dave, especially the Dukes :D  - that looks like a really interesting site :D 8) I've seen reports of Common Blues, Brown Argus and Small Blue from Wilts so hopefully the decent weather will ensure they're flying at Sidbury :D Have a goodun Wurzel

I love that 'tangled' Brimstone shot Goldie :D Those unfurling fronds look like talons grasping at the butterfly 8)

Re: Bugboys mission

Those are cracking Greenstreak shots Bugboy 8) :D Next week is looking like a case of reasonable temperatures with sunny intervals - although how much sun counts towards a 'sunny interval' I'm not sure but overall I reckon you picked a good time to have a few days off  Have a goodun Wurzel

I too have noticed that there don't seem to be as many Greenstreaks this season Rob - hopefully it's a case of slowly building rather than a 'poor season' in the offing :?

Re: April 2025

"I asked about the Glanvilles as that was a real surprise. Any more details Wurzel?"... Sorry Jack I'm not very good at checking back on the Sightings page  A fair few years back some Glanvilles were introduced at Whitesheet Hill near Stourhead in Wiltshire. A couple of years later ...

Re: Bugboys mission

That is cracking news Bugboy  :D It's funny you should mention the Wiltshire Marshies - I was PMing Dave last night reckoning that it may have been another week til they emerged and then on the Evil-book-of-face a post popped up and they're out at Cotley already - that's a couple of weeks ear...

That's a cracking conversation Guy, it's written in such a way that it makes me imagine a spectacled gent wearing finger less gloves and flicking though huge tomes to find relevant information  Lovely butterfly too :D

Re: Goldie M

You did alright with those Walls Goldie 8) I often find that once I've got a couple of (very blurred/dodgy) record shots of my 'target' they seem to come more easily - it's always those first few that are the most troublesome :D

Cheers Goldie :D They seem to like the same spots every year and so it would be rude not to pay them attention  :D Cheers Dave :D It's funny that you should mention those cats Dave as I saw at least 7 (?) flying at Compton Down yesterday but none at Martin Down later that afternoon - I think C...

Is the 11th April early for Dukes even at Noar Hill Dave? Feels like it - but then things are going a little made this year - I just wish the numbers were slightly higher :? I'll reply to your PM later once I get back from work...

Re: Bugboys mission

Love the OTs and Greenstreaks Bugboy :D 8) Things have been early round here but not in any great numbers - almost as if the majority are waiting for the weather to get really good and don't want to get caught out in a cold snap :? Mind you Glannies, Marshies and Dukes all in April are really early ...

Lovely set of Holly Blue Trevor - I've just been bemoaning about how they've been tricky on Goldie's PD so it seems they're proving even more trickier for me judging by your shots   Marshies are out at Compton Down, Dorset but no news from The Hill yet...

Interesting to see the Peacock/Small Tort interaction Neil - the two times I've seen this the Small has also been the pursuer - perhaps that have a liking for the more 'voluptuous' females   Cracking to see the OT's - I've only (knowingly) seen a single female so far  Have a good...
