I concur with Pete that the difference in image quality is small between the 3 lenses you've mentioned. I have the Tamron 90mm macro and have no complaints with regards image quality. Thanks for the pod tips Chris, appreciate it. I do lug a monopod with me wherever I go (when I have my camera with me as well of course!). I find tripod trickier to use like you said due to the more 'complex' set up. I find with the mono, you can move easily and with a flash, achieve higher shutter ...
