Your photographs remind me what a splendid place Mull is. Looking forward to my next visit this June.

Re: Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 and 14-45 lens
Thanks for the CHDK address. Have added it to my favourites. I will certainly explore it to see what additional features I can get from it for my S3.

Re: Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 and 14-45 lens
Thanks for your comments Jack. I too shall probably wait until my present camera (Canon Powershot S3 IS) fails.

I have downloaded Google Chrome recently on my computer running Vista. Eddie John's excellent web site runs perfectly in Google Chrome.

Re: Northern Cyprus
I have Vista Home Basic, Version 6(Build 6001: Service pack 1). http://www.grayling.dircon.co.uk/ does not run correctly on either IE7 or Firefox on this computer.
As I have said before it runs perfectly on my wife's computer running XP Professional.

Re: Northern Cyprus
Hi Alex Thanks for the information. It may be of interest; I think I have found why Eddie John's excellent site on Cyprus butterflies doesn't run correctly on my computer running Vista. It runs perfectly on my wife's computer which runs XP. Hopefully one of my computer-literate sons will be able to ...

Re: Northern Cyprus
I am planning a trip to N.Cyprus in April, this was when I encountered the problem. The snow here in Essex has now disappeared - it was quite a novelty! Thanks for trying to help. Have a good holiday.
Best wishes

Northern Cyprus
I am going to Northern Cyprus in mid-April this year. I am thinking of buying Christodoulos Makris' book 'Butterflies of Cyprus'. Has anyone used this in the field? What other field guides are recommended for this area? I am a birder who is becoming more and more interested in butterflies. I have be...

Re: Can someone recommend an idiot proof camera

I received a phone call from Canon this afternoon apologising for the long delay in answering my complaint. In addition they gave me t...

Re: Can someone recommend an idiot proof camera
Hi Pete
With respect it only 'saves a forest' if owners are prepared to sit in front of a computer screen to view the instructions on the cd and do not take up the option of printing the instructions. As always there are no simplistic solutions to complex problems.

Re: Can someone recommend an idiot proof camera
Reference lack of instruction manual for G9. I recently bought this camera. I asked Canon why they didn't supply a full instruction manual. Their reason was that it was environmentally unfriendly but I could buy one from a third party supplier at a cost of almost £17.00 or print one from the cd whic...
