Re: Martin White
So sad to see him go! Got to know Martin very well and was truly amazed how intelligent, knowledgeable, kind, modest he was. A person that you could not replace. He had worked out so many of the unknowns of the insect/plant/ant world it was quite remarkable. One little story I remember- We went to B...

Re: Lindrick Common near Worksop

Personally i think any introductions that are in an isolated area with no chance of nearby colonisation and not in the area they were previously found should not be taking place. However, Lindrick Common, which is part of Lindrick golf course and the area around like Lindrick ...

Re: South Yorkshire sites.
I think the British Scotch Argus is a different 'race' to the european ones, preferring the more upland areas etc..,,, thats why some people think the ones that are doing well at Lindrick Common have been taken from the continent. I met someone there though this year and he knew the chap that releas...

Wood White in Derbyshire
Just wondered if anyone can help? I have recently read 'The Butterflys of Yorkshire' and it states that the Wood White was unofficially introduced to Whitwell woods near Sherwood forest a few years ago. Would like to know if anybody knows it is still surviving there and if so where is the best place...
