Aperture or Lightroom
As the weather has been so rubbish and I've hardly seen, let alone photographed any butterflies yet this year, I turned my attantion to my creaking, low RAM windows desk top and considered a replacement. I have two grown up sons who are fully MAC converted, one of which does a lot of photography and...

Re: Camera Bodies
Thanks Grudditch, I thought that may be the case. I have'nt shot much above iso 400, so it shouldn't be too much of a worry. I know that some bird photographers push the iso right up when taking flight shots in low light, when noise will be an issue but I dont do much of that. I am basically looking...

Re: Camera Bodies
From all the comments made, its confusing but the 7D would appear to be the way to go if my bird photography is not to suffer too much. I am interested to know how much the increase in noise is over my much loved 40D. Is it only noticed at really high levels or as low as ISO400. I only print to A4 o...

Re: Camera Bodies
I would be interested to know why Grudditch prefers to the 5D Mk11 to the 7D? Also, if I can get full frame butterfly shots with a 40D and 100 macro, I presume I could do the same with a 5D Mkii and a 150 macro? With regard to bird photography, I appreciate the comments about reach and the full fram...

Re: Camera Bodies
Thanks to all for the comments.
I never really considered noise, I just assumed the 7D, being a newer camera than the 40D, would be better.
I will spend some time reading reviews etc and do some more research.
Thanks again
Tom

Camera Bodies
Having spent a few years with a Canon 40D, I am considering trading up and would be interested to hear other opinions. I use all Canon lenses and split my photography 50/50 birds and butterflies / moths etc. I am considering the 7D but would a full frame, such as a 5D give better images. Also, if mo...

Re: Printers
Hi Gruditch,
thanks for the info, I will look into the Epson printers you mentioned.
I think the problem is there is just so much choice you have to have some feed back from other users.
Also, great shots on your gallery.
Thanks again

Printers
I know this topic has been discussed before but I am in need of a new printer and wondered what others were using?
I know I can have a print done at the photo shop / Tescos etc but quite fancy doing my own.
So what is being used out there and does wifi really work.

Re: Jumping In!
Thanks for the comments Pete and Denise, On a technical note how do I upload a larger image? I have seen much larger images on the forum and uploaded mine by copying a pixel size (800 wide x ) from an image on the forum, reducing the original in photoshop and then importing it but they have turnd ou...

Jumping In!
Well here goes, my apologies if this doesn't work but I'm going to give it a go. After a lot of deliberation (see Advive for novice) I have finally bought a Canon100mm f2.8 macro to go with my Canon 40D and have got some half decent shots which I am going to attempt to put on this forum. Firstly, I ...

Re: Ideas for butterfly friendly garden
Hi Denise,
Thanks for the suggestion.
On another subject, I've had a look at your website and am very impressed. Did you set it up yourself or did someone do it for you. This should probably be in the photography forum Ha, Ha !

Photoshop
As a user of Elements, Adobe are offering me the full version of Photoshop for half price. As a novice user of this software is this a good deal or will I never use the extra bits and pieces. I have a copy of Canon Digital Professional but am still getting to grips with it. Also, what is Bridge and ...

Ideas for butterfly friendly garden
I joined this happy band mainly for photographic help, which has been brilliant but would like some advice for a butterfly friendly garden. I have a large garden, but apart from cutting the grass, or should I say moss, and doing some weeding, I know precious little about gardening. I am going to pla...

Re: Taking photos 'Raw'
Shirley, This happend to me when I first started using RAW images. I managed to download a plug in for my version of Photoshop elements 5 (see topic Camera RAW), until I did this I could see the files in XP 'my pictures' but could not open them. Once I downloaded the plug in it worked fine. I am now...
