Espers or not Espers, that is the question!!!
Again from Sorrento: I thought this was Espers as the Black band is unbroken? EspersMarbledWhite170730.LL.IT.JPG Unlike my UK Marbled White: MarbledWhite170623a.MW.UK.JPG But i've now been told that as it's just a single cell... it's a subspecies of M galathea? What does anyone think? Cheers! Damian

Ha! Thanks guy.... I like getting photos of British Butterflies abroad just as much as finding new species (Idas blue is a new one for me!) so best of both worlds here.... I had this one down as Reverdin's female? but based off your previous post, I guess this is Idas as well? Reverdin'sBlue150806a....

Re: Polish Blues

I'm now back from Krakow, but am disappointed to find there are NO books available on Polish Butterflies (I guess this means they must be very under recorded?) In terms of the Large Blue, unfortunately it was Blowing a gale at the time, I found it on a clump...

Slightly disappointed it's not a bit more exotic!
Definately behaved completely differently to the ones we see in the UK... but I guess it's never 36 degrees C in the UK!!!

Zephyr Blue??? in Turkey.
Just got back from Mugla Province in Turkey. Looking for an ID on this Male Blue... Found a small colony on what appeared to be some sort of pea. ZephyrBlue110604b condensed.TR.jpg Males had interesting behaviour, they always rested 'head down' on the tops of Grass / flower heads with wings tightly ...
