Re: April 2025

I haven't really been out looking for butterflies up here in Aberdeen but I had some peacock butterflies in my garden. Also here is a green veined white butterfly 🦋 in the garden today. It's not my usual macro shot as I had a long Zoom lens... but not too bad 🤔

Re: Overall Favourite Butterfly Photo of 2024

My overall favourite photo 📸 I took in 2024 was of a common blue at Fallin Bing near Stirling on June 3rd.

It's a wonderful well managed site covered in wild flowers.

I had to get down flat on my stomach to get the shot.......and squeezed off a few photos before it was gone.

Re: Small Tortoiseshell - Favourite Photo of 2024

Small Tortoiseshell appeared in my Aberdeen garden between 18th August through till 22nd August. I didn't see anymore in the garden after that and they were in much lower numbers from previous years. I did manage to see another on the 16th September at Logie Steading Gardens. Best photos 📸 attached....

Re: Small Blue - Favourite Photo of 2024

I only spent one day looking for small blues on the 25th May at a site in Glamis. Bert. Your photos were taken the same day that Ben and I were there, Bert. Maybe you were in the sand pits while we were on the railway line in the other direction. Chris You are correct. I was in the sand pits for a ...

A peacock appeared in a friend's house in Portmahomack near Tain last Saturday. He thinks he might have brought it in on some logs from the woodshed earlier that day.

I visited my local patch of meadow in Bridge of Don Aberdeen on 21st and 22nd June. There were plenty of ringlet butterfly 🦋 on the wing. I always find them difficult to photograph as they flit amongst the long grass.

I visited my favourite PBF site at Cambus o may on Deeside on the 20th and 21st May.

The butterflies were still out in good numbers but not near the 2023 sightings.

Looking forward to my 2025 visit.
