I'll be in Dublin in mid May. Does anyone have any tips on where to go for Marsh Fritillary and Cryptic Wood White within reasonable distance from the city? Ideally by public transport.
Weather permitting I'll have a day.
Thanks
Edward

RFI Breney Common, Cornwall
I am off to Cornwall for a couple of days in a week or so. Weather permitting hoping to see some Fritillaries. Can anyone provide information on Breney Common please. Particularly where best in the site to look for Marsh Fritillary? I appreciate given how late things are they might not be out by the...

Manchester Argus (aka Large Heath) on Ch4 news
Some may have seen this. Here's the Channel 4 News story about the Large Heath reintroduction near Manchester. It's a pretty good bit of environmental journalism

Re: June 2020
Some previously embargoed news from Cambridge. The local branch of Butterfly Conservation and Wildlife Trusts have revealed that Small Blues are confirmed in Cambridgeshire. There have been rumoured sightings over the years, but until last year nothing certain since the 1980's. A small colony has no...

Re: April 2020
To me what is most promising about Rosalyn's record is how far inland it is. It's west of the A1. So this is not just a few individuals scattered along the coasts. How many more are there out there that are going unnoticed?

Painted Lady in the sahara
Of interest as some might be progeny of some of the UK ones this summer. I am just back from Mauritania where there are tens of thousands of Painted Lady. All over Nouakchott, the capital, and up in the desert near Banc D'Arguin National Park they were under every tuft of grass. It has been the wett...

Re: Western Russia
Thanks David, I was there for work so didn't get us much time butterflying as I'd like. But it was pretty amazing - corncrakes keeping me up at night in the meadows around the hotel, and fresh bear signs in the woods less than 1km away.

Re: ID French butterflies pls
Thank you for the speedy replies. Unfortunately I didn't get any upper wing photos of the Skipper, but Oberthür's grizzled skipper was my thought too. Not bad for the garden of a gite ! (accompanied by Adonis Blue, Cleopatra, Southern White Admiral, Lesser Purple Emperor, Woodland Grayling and previ...
