Re: February 2019

The records for Northants are starting to come in thick and fast now during this warm snap with Brimstones, Red Admirals and the first Small Tortoiseshell of the year being seen today. I saw 2 Brimstones yesterday in Salcey Forest south with this one flying around before taking a breather. Brimstone...

Re: Small Copper - Favourite Photo of 2018

Like the others posting here 2018 was an outstanding year for the Small Copper here in Northants and after the poor year in 2016 it was certainly a welcome sight! Re: Dark Green Fritillary - Favourite Photo of 2018

My favourite Dark Green Fritillary photos come from Fineshade Woods this year. The species over the years has been slowly colonising from the north and some of our country grassland sites have had sightings over the last few years. This year they expanded their range though and were seen in more num...

Re: Comma - Favourite Photo of 2018

My favourite Comma photo has to be this one taken during the summer at Hartwell Pocket Park in Northants. I'd gone there to check the Elms for White-letter Hairstreaks but unfortunately couldn't find any. This Comma did provide a nice distraction though.

Re: Clouded Yellow - Favourite Photo of 2018

My favourite Clouded Yellow photo of the year has to be one of the photos taken during and impressive showing of the species at Sywell Country Park this year. We don't very often have double figure Clouded Yellows in Northants so to see 24 in one was quite something! It was made even more special wi...

Re: Large Heath - Favourite Photo of 2018

My favourite photo of a Large Heath (in fact my only photo of one) was taken earlier this year up near Greenlee Lough Nature reserve. My girlfriend and I had been up to visit the Farne Islands and I couldn't resist a search to see this butterfly while I was up there. The only day we had free to look...
