They might be. According to the life cycle chart on the main web-site they are still flying for the first three weeks in July and the impression I get is that things are at least a week behind so you may well find a few still on the wing.
Good luck if you try for them!

Re: Heath Fritillary at Blean Woods
I ended up going to East Blean Woods yesterday (6th July). I managed to luck into a nice sunny morning despite a cloudy forecast and there were about 30 or 40 Heath Fritillaries flying. The best spot seemed to be the first clearing that you come to from the car park. I also had some very nice views ...

Re: Heath Fritillary at Blean Woods
I'm thinking of going to pay a visit tomorrow and would appreciate any information on how many are flying and where the best place to look is. The Kent BC branch first sightings page unfortunately hasn't been updated since the 20th May but I know from Twitter that at least a few have been seen there...

High Brown Fritillary Sites in the South West
There's a chance that I may be heading down to Cornwall next week in which case I thought that I might stop off en route to see if I can catch up with some High Brown Fritillaries somewhere. What are the most reliable sites in the south west that aren't too far off the main A30 or A38 routes to the ...

Re: Northern Brown Argus Sites near Durham
Thanks once again to everyone for their help with this site. In the end the instructions were perfect and despite the very overcast conditions I managed to find some Northern Brown Argus under the Dog Rose to the left as predicted. _NBA3.jpg _NBA2.jpg I also managed to find at least some of the spec...

Re: Northern Brown Argus Sites near Durham
The Arguses have been out at Bishop Middleton since last Sunday. Enter the quarry, turn left and you will see them immediately all along the track and on the plateau on the left. Good luck Ron Thanks for that Ron, I'm heading up there tomorrow though sadly the weather forecast doesn't look that gre...

Northern Brown Argus Sites near Durham
I'm going to be up at Durham in a couple of week's time to fetch my daughter from University. I thought that I'd combine the trip with a spot of butterflying and would like to catch up with Northern Brown Argus. Is Thrislington Plantation still a good site for them as it's very close? If so then any...

Re: Hutchinsons Bank
I went to visit Hutchinson's Bank yesterday (Thursday) in what turned out to be perfect weather, lovely and sunny with hardly a breath of wind. I managed to come across a couple of Glanvilles, one at "the Cutting" (judging from the photos above) by the bench and another on the track by the...

Re: Hutchinsons Bank
I'm thinking of visiting this site over the next few days. As someone who's not been there before I was wondering where the best area is to look for the Glanville Fritillaries. Is there a Google Map or something available, marked out with the key areas? Also, is the best place to park Farleigh Dean ...

Re: Pearl Bordered Fritillaries, Cirencester Park, Glos
Just to let people know that there were several Pear-bordered Fritillaries about in Hailey Wood today. Look out for deer ticks though, I found a couple of the blighters on me when I got back home today. Trip report here for those who are interested.

Re: Sites for Marsh Fritillaries
Hi Adam, Marsh Frit has been out at Strawberry Banks from at least 14th May onwards. This species will now be out on all southern sites, some of which are considered 'sensitive', so not necessarily publicised. BWs Neil Just to let people know that I made a trip to Strawberry Banks today and was rew...

Re: Sites for Marsh Fritillaries
Adam, Not as close to Oxford as you might like, but Strawberry Banks, nr Stroud has proved a decent stronghold for the Marsh Fritillary. No reports of them on the wing there yet though. Regards Kev Thanks for that Kev, I'll give it a go. I'd love to know when they've actually been seen on the wing ...

Re: Sites for Marsh Fritillaries
Unfortunately the populations on most sites that I know in the Oxon area have become extinct - some very recently - so you may have to travel further afield. Mike Thanks for your reply Mike. I was assuming that I would have to go out of the county to somewhere like Wiltshire. As I'm not familiar wi...

Re: Sites for Marsh Fritillaries
In a similar vein I'm looking for the closest good site to Oxford for Marsh Fritillaries. I understand that there are some to the west of Newbury but would very much appreciate some further information including whether they are currently flying yet etc.

Re: Chequered Skipper information
Hi all, Thanks very much for all your help. I'm pleased to report a successful flying visit to Glasdrum where despite overcast conditions at least it wasn't raining. I managed to find at least 5 CS, a couple of dozen SPBF, a Small Copper and plenty of miscellaneous moths. Despite taking precautions ...

Re: Chequered Skipper information
I'm going to be passing through the Fort William area at the end of this week and I thought that I'd stop off to try and see the Chequered Skippers. I'll only have a couple of hours to spare so will only be able to try one site and I'll be very much at the mercy of the prevailing weather conditions....
