Re: May 2015
Yesterday at Cotley Hill, Wiltshire, despite the mostly cloudy weather, there was an abundance of Marsh Fritillaries. Adonis, Brown Argus, Small Blue, Dingy & Grizzled Skippers, Wall Brown and an aberrant Small Tortoiseshell and more at this wonderful site. Corn Buntings too at the top! To see a...

Re: Heath Fritillary - Essex 2015
I was sad to learn of the extinct colony of Heath Fritillaries at Thrift Wood. Was this because of lack of foodplant or lack of site management? Are there any plans to re-introduce this species into Thrift Wood?

OK, they wer...

If there is any chance of any sun tomorrow, I might just give Wrecclesham another go.

Seven Barrows and Marsh Fritillary
Seven Barrows (Nr. Lambourn, Berks). If anyone has any news on the current state of the struggling Marsh Fritillary population at Seven Barrows, it would be of interest to me. On my recent visit, not only were there no Marsh Fritillary flying, only two Dingy Skippers seen and no Small Blues or Brown...

Wrecclesham and it's Glanvilles.
Wrecclesham, Farnham, Surrey. As of Tuesday 4th June, no Glanville Fritillaries, appear to be out. Whilst most species are late after a cold spring, I am hoping that the disturbance at the site hasn't adversely affected the emergence of Surrey's little gem. I made a thorough search on Tuesday, but n...
