I went to Over Cutting in Cambs this morning and eventually saw 2 Grizzled Skippers on the ground. There were quite a few small day flying moths there, some of which looked really similar to Grizzled Skipper in flight. One nice moth seen was Netted Pug.
Cheers.

Re: April Sightings
Hi, I saw my first butterfly of the year yesterday (April 6th), in my village in mid Cambs - a single Brimstone. This was seen in the afternoon and was a very good moment! This morning I visited Monks Wood, and in over 3 hours walking the rides just managed to see 2 Brimstones and a single Peacock. ...

Re: Patrick Barkham's Guide to British Butterflies DVD
Any idea yet of when this DVD is going to be released? I've been looking forward to getting it ever since I found out about it, because I know just how enjoyable watching it will be. Usually there is some indication of when an important product will be released, but so far nothing new since November...

Re: Lulworth Skipper flight period
First of all many thanks to David M, Pete Eeles, Wurzel and essexbuzzard for the fast replies and all the helpful advice. I've only been a member of this forum for a day, and I'm really impressed with the friendliness all have shown. I do want to see this species at Lulworth Cove/ Bindon Hill, so it...

Lulworth Skipper flight period
I plan to go down to Lulworth Cove this year to see Lulworth Skipper. Can anyone with recent experience with this species tell me the best time to try? I've been doing a little research and it's a little confusing. All of the books I own state that the flight period is July and August with a peak in...

Re: Patrick Barkham's Guide to British Butterflies DVD
Hi Sussex Kipper, Thanks for your warm welcome, and thanks for the quick response to my question regarding Patrick's DVD. It looks like I won't have to wait very long to buy it, hopefully within a couple of weeks. I've only allowed myself to watch one clip from YouTube as I don't want to spoil the e...

Patrick Barkham's Guide to British Butterflies DVD
I've just finished reading 'The Butterfly Isles' by Patrick Barkham. This is a superb book and certainly one of the best I've ever read. Amazingly, I've just discovered that there is a DVD guide to British Butterflies by Patrick that is soon to be released. At the moment, there are only two links to...
