Chambers Farm Wood
Can anyone help with naming areas of Chambers Farm Wood, I see references to things like Fiveways and the Minting Triangle all the time but have no idea how to find them, I've put numbers 1 and 2 on the picture below, 1 being the bench on the main track from the car park and 2 being what I've tentat...

Green Hairstreak
On a walk at Rimac I saw 10 individuals all on sea buckthorn, is this a known foodplant for green hairstreak? I've found references to them using purging buckthorn but nothing about sea buckthorn

Re: Marsh Fritillary on Lydlinch Common
Nice video there Jim! Our Lincolnshire Marsh Frits have been on the wing for just over a week now - hoping to go see them next week but I reckon the massive population explosion of the past two years is waning... I've just been today and seen around 100 including 2 mating pairs so there's hope yet

Re: April Sightings
Saw my first butterfly this year a nice Brimstone on my allotment. Not a sausage at my usual spot though, still hoping to see a Green Hairstreak there later this year (rarely visits)

Releasing butterflies?
What's the policy on releasing butterflies that have been reared from larvae? I had intended raising some Brown Hairstreak's next year and photographing their lifecycle (minus the egg stage), and then releasing them on a local nature reserve, but then I got to thinking that this could mess up local ...

Ok thanks are there any sites you recommend to start looking on? Had a bit of a look around and can't find one cheaper than £600 or so.

Canon EF 100mm F2.8 Macro or Sigma EX DG 105mm F2.8 Macro?
Looking to buy a macro lens for my Canon EOS 400D and these 2 keep popping up. I can get the Sigma second hand for £250 ish and the Canon second hand for around £350, and the Canon also doesn't extend as it focuses. Is it worth paying the extra £100 and having a bit more working distance?

Re: First Post
Yeah I'm looking at ways to get there (CFW) stuck with public transport at the minute though. Apparently Whisby Nature Reserve is quite good for them as well, and there's a small nature reserve (Greetwell Hollow) thats just down the road from my house

Hi all been lurking for a while and finally decided to get stuck in. I'm Matt from Lincoln just starting out after reading The Butterfly Isles (second-hand bookshop find). Mainly interested in the photography side but I've been told there are 28 species of butterfly that can be found in Lincolnshire...
