Just realised I posted a picture of the same Swallowtail, here's the other one I managed to photographed. The third one although photographed was obscured by grass, that had two tails but a piece out of the wing.

Re: British gorganus Swallowtails
Went down to St Aldhelms Head yesterday from Somerset to look for these Continental Swallowtails. Took a while to locate them but they appeared to favour the area of the coast path between the coastguard watch point & the stone seat and the field between here and the coastguard cottages. We even...

Dropped into Danesway Bank near Sapperton in the Cotswold yesterday on the way home from Whitecross Green Wood to look for Large Blue. Being used to driving a few miles up the road to Collared Hill to see this species it was nice to look elsewhere. Like at Whitecross Green Wood the conditions were f...

Re: June 2014
That's exactly the area I described Jason, except we always park in the lay-by rather than the main car-park :D There were at least six seen in the same place on Thursday lunchtime seen by a mate of mine, he said he bumped into people from Cardiff & Birmingham. Funnily enough I was expecting it ...

Black Hairstreak - Oxfordshire
On holiday for two weeks after this week and hoping to get up to the M40 woods for Black Hairstreak (Lifer). Has anyone got any tips for access, parking best places to look as I understand it's a bit complicated with access etc.
Thanks in advance Roger

Re: June 2014
Hi Mike, Thanks for the comments on the Heath Fritillary pictures. We saw them around the big dead tree down over from the lay-by (SS979285) between Upton village and the Haddon Hill car park. Don't forget the B3190 along there will be closed between 8 & 1 next Sunday (15th).
Re: June 2014
Cheers David, if anyone is planning on visiting Haddon Hill next Sunday (15th) be aware that the main road there will be closed between 8am - 1pm due to the Ironman run!! Regards Roger
