awesome day out at arnside and warton.
hundreds upon hundreds of scotch argus out at the knott, even in drizzly weather, was decent.
a few nice brimstones and walls at warton.
all in all a 23 species day!

a mate of mine found the site the day before, so i went back with him the next day to try and see them for myself and wasn't disappointed, plus extra pleasing to find this was a new site for themDavid M wrote:

an awesome day in a local undisclosed spot in preston today watching a beautiful wlh in the closest quarters i could have quite possibly expected to, really was a hairstreak experience i won't be forgetting for a while!

c.10-15 mountain ringlet at cold pike today, also large heaths at meathop.

Dark Dark green fritillary
Saw this one yesterday, at Arnside knott. Quite a dark variant compared to the rest.

Lovely weather today at Gait Barrows NR... plenty of High brown and Dark green out and about, some stopping for pictures
also billions (slight exaggeration although there was loads!) of browns, ringlets, skippers and whites. Plus many damsels and dragonflies..

yep was an elm and an adult does regularly patrol this area. i'm gonna go for comma. cheers mate

Ah right i see, well luckily this one was still trooping around and in not too bad a condition, plus this was my first one so i was glad.David M wrote:

Hod hill bottom: Lots of Brown argus and Common blues, a good number of Dingy skipper, 1 Grizzled skipper, Portland bill: Lots of Small and Common blues, Dingy skippers, Painted lady and a Hummingbird hawk moth. Lankham bottom: a few Adonis blues, Lots of Common blues. Priddy mineries: 3/4 Small pea...

Great sight today in my front garden. while on the comp, lookin out the window at the budlia, i could see (all at once) 14 p ladies, 5 red admiral, 4 pcock, 6 whites, 3 small ttshell n a comma. not too bad eh!
