Hi
My natural history geek friend and I are on another field trip for the last week of July and we've decided to try Kent and East Sussex. Where's good for butterflies in these areas?
thanks for your help

Last Thursday I met someone who lives in Cyprus and who is a butterfly enthusiast. He said the numbers of Painted Ladies there at the moment was absolutely amazing so perhaps we will have an influx? Let's hope so. :D Ian I was in Turkey last week and there were a lot of Painted Ladies there too so ...
Re: May 2014

The Cowslips are just amazing this year. Highlight of the day was spending an hour watching this Brimstone lay her eggs....

Re: Common Blue - Favourite Photo of 2013
I didn't see many Common Blues this year, it did strike me that a lot of the females I saw were very blue indeed this year, this isn't one of them obviously!

Re: Chalkhill Blue - Favourite Photo of 2013
Lots of Chalkhill Blues this year, but I like this one of mine best. It was taken on The Masts reserves (Prestbury) and it was a notable occasion because my non-butterflying friend completely fell for butterflies after spending some time with these freshly emerged males

Re: Turkish butterfly ID help please?
Its in Kayakoy, which is South West Turkey, just inland from the Med Coast (Fethiye area). It was taken on Tuesday. This is a shot of the sort of habitat, its very rocky, I don't know what the geology is. Sadly that's the only shot of the actual butterfly he got.
thanks so much both of you,
Jo

Turkish butterfly ID help please?
I've managed to get my parents stalking butterflies, can anyone help with this ID? It doesn't match anything in "A Field Guide to The Butterflies of Turkey" by Ahmet Baytaş as far as I can see.
Thanks in advance
