Brown or Northern Brown
I took this photo of a argus also on Whitbarrow Scar on 9th July 2007. Unfortunately I did not get any underwing shots. This was the first and only argus I saw in a 5 day Cumbria trip. I assume that this was a NBH but would be interested to here any opinions. Wayne http://upload2.postimage.org/40268...

Brown Hairstreak
Eccles,
I saw the BH close to where I met you.
Go through the carpark gate into the meadow and follow the hedge on your right pass the two oak trees. The BH was about 15m past the second Oak tree.

Brown Hairstreak
On Friday 27th I photographed a single female Brown Hairstreak at Ravensroost Wood in Wiltshire. I revisted the wood today (Sunday 29th) but did not see any BH. A Holy Blue was seen in the carpark and a small copper in the meadow. Regards Wayne http://upload2.postimage.org/23085/BrownHairstreak_800....

Great Pictures Pete
I have always stuck to aperature priority but I will try Shutter priority this weekend at Finemere for Black Hairstreak. My equipment is a Canon 20D and Canon 100mm Macro. I do think that most of my problem with the Chequered was either camera shake or subject movement (wind) so I think a faster shu...

Having also made a trip to Scotland for Chequered Skipper (9th -12th June) with the weather hot and sunny throughout I took many many photos of the skippers but the standard just does reach that of Pete's excellent shots. Well done Pete. I would appreciate what settings you used. From Scotland I tra...
