I managed to collect the pupa intact the following day and this emerged from it overnight (Mar.13th)

Hi Vince,
I did suspect it may be a Green-veined White pupa so thanks for your second opinion. It's not a species I've seen the early stages of before so I'll go back and try and remove it intact and rear it through just to make absolutely sure.

Can anybody put a name to this one? I found it today in West Yorks but didn't bring it home.Thanks for looking.

Thanks for that Jon. It does sound a plausible theory even if it's not true. Maybe it's just the sticky nature of the droplets that deter predators such as spiders from having a go.

Hi all, Having ventured in to the butterfly rearing world just recently I was looking at some photos I took of some recently emerged Orange-tip larvae and noticed they all had tiny droplets at the end of their hairs.I presume this is normal, does anyone know the purpose of these? 1553 Orange-tip lar...
