Re: Dragonfly
Sorry no more pics. I spent half an hour chasing it along the edge of a pond before they disappeared and the first pic I posted was my best shot. The other pic was the second best so you can imagine what the rest looked like. Most of the time I completely failed to get it in the frame. There were a ...

Dave I hope you do not mind me altering your image slightly, but talking about post processing (which I'm all in favour of), why not try lightening the shadows a little

Re: Just really starting out with D-SLR
Hi Dave, I use a 400D and the results are usually quite sharp. I noticed on your last small tortoiseshell pic that although the tort was out of focus the background in the bottom right hand corner was a lot sharper. So for some reason you were not focusing in the correct place. As others have sugges...

Photographers have always manipulated their final images. From how they develop the original film to dodging and burning with masks when making the final prints. Nobody criticises Ansel Adams for enhancements he made in the darkroom, although it is said that Henri Cartier Bresson did not even crop h...

Re: A very versatile lens
Talking about lens versatility, I was out birding last weekend in Norfolk (it still does not feel warm enough to be in full butterfly mode yet). Anyway the sun came out (which was a rare occurrence in itself) and in a short stretch of overgrown pathway I saw about a dozen small torts and a couple of...

I also watched the program but unfortunately I don't have an opinion on why the large copper project failed. However what I found striking is the number of programs this year (at least six) that have some butterfly conservation content. This would appear to be a good thing no matter which way you lo...

I agree the program was brilliant and the photography was simply stunning. I would like to know where the motorway verges were that harboured the Adonis Blues as I visited three different sites last summer looking for them, without success :( How does the BBC find such unusual sites? Its a mystery t...
