Caterpillar ID please
Hello everyone,
I have found a caterpillar (1st-2nd instar and about 1cm in length) in a bouquet of flowers from the supermarket. May not be a British species, but unsure where flowers originated.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Kind Regards
Kev

Small Copper Aberration?
Hello everyone, I saw my first Small Coppers of the year this morning, with what I thought may be an aberration due to finer markings on the top wing (top photo), compared with the bolder markings on the other I saw (bottom picture). I would be grateful for any views on this. Bobbits Lane 12.5 (1).J...

Hi, I have some flowering Garlic Mustard in my garden at present (first time it has flowered this late in the year). It is currently home not only to a Large White larvae (4th Instar) but also either a 4th Instar Small or Green Veined White (I cannot decide which one). I would welcome confirmation i...

A few more Small Blues, this time in our local Ipswich Park in early June. For a change they seemed quite photogenic and I was luck enough to find my first pair in copulation as well as my first ovum (there were quite a large number on a single Kidney Vetch plant). Hi Guy,
Nice catching up with your diary. I love the head on view of the Glanville Fritillary and that Alpine Heath is a stunner. Minnie did well to observe the Green Hairstreak so close. No chance of that with my Millie, she just flushes butterflies out for me.
Kind Regards
Kev

Glad you had a nice trip to Corfu Wurzel. As an Orange Tip fan, I guess I better join the queue with
That lemony underside is superb.
I do like Cleopatra's too, with the orange top wing, a stunning butterfly.

Hi everyone, The traditional start to the year for me is my beloved Orange Tips. After almost 10 months of patience, our garden pupa finally produced a lovely female. This was the first time I had ever witnessed the rare sight of an Orange Tip emerge and it was a such a treat. BB6B5D99-7980-4409-92B1...
