Adding a Site

The form below allows you to add a new site. When you're done, please click the Submit button and you'll be taken to a confirmation page where you'll have the option to list the species found at the new site. Please note that many sites found in the British Isles have a negative longitude. The optional URL field represents a link to a website containing information about the site, and the optional Transect field represents a link to a website containing transect information for the site. Several resources are available that can help you find the grid reference, latitude and longitude:

  • The map below the form allows you to move the location of a "pin" that will automatically set the grid reference, latitude and longitude. Unfortunately, this mechanism only supports grid references in England, Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man. This mechanism should not be used for grid references in Ireland or the Channel Islands.
  • Richard Lamont's website allows you to find the latitude and longitude, given a grid reference, and has full coverage of the British Isles. Richard kindly converted many of the grid references used on this website.
