Super Moon

Hi Folks,
For those who have cloud cover. Here is a photo of the Super Moon taken this evening in Marseilles, South of France.
Looking East at 18.30 hours UK time. Low elevation.

Question => why is my photo not as clear as I would have expected ? I only ever use my FZ150 for daytime butterfly photos, so I have no experience in other situations.
Photo taken with a Panasonic FZ150, on a tripod, "S" setting with a shutter speed of 1/2000 s (max. speed setting). Auto ISO. Full zoom. Macro setting OFF. B&W setting "0".
I was hoping my FZ150 was dummy-proof

I must say the moon looked even bigger and clearer this morning at dawn, and many features were very clear to the naked eye.
Unfortunately work was calling and I didn't have time for a photo.

Sorry for late response but I've been away since the beginning of November. You may be disappointed in your image, Chris, because it is rather over-exposed, taking out some detail, and you used a high ISO (800), which is poor for detail. Try using the spot meter on the moon itself and never trust 'auto ISO'. Remember that the moon's surface is bathed in direct sunlight, so is actually very bright. I'd stick to ISO 100 and try a series of exposures to find what gives the best results. Something like 1/250s at f/8 would be a good starting point.
