That's a cracker. Shows the bluish/green 'verdigris' markings up very well.

It's no wonder they survive hibernation in numbers. That camouflage is spectacular - looks just like a bit of old wood.

I've always wondered why the white comma mark exists though.

That's a magnificent photo. I always find that whenever commas shut their wings they're slightly backlit, and so despite my best efforts, I have always failed to get a clear, well-lit underside as good as that :D !

This was may favourite, because it was pretty much the first butterfly photo I took this year after what had felt like a very long wait for Spring

Only the second time I've ever seen it.
