Out and about

Post by StMedard »

Out and about in Somerset,One Painted Lady (Vanessa carduior) or as they are known in France La Belle-Dame here in my Garden, last one seen was the great influx 2009,first of many perhaps ? elsewhere on my local reserve Ham Wall ,Somerset good numbers of Peacock (Aglais io), a few Red Admiral. (Vanessa atalanta) one Comma (Polygonia c-album) and a single Green-veined-White (Pieris napi) feeding on Hemp-agrimony,perhaps we should include this plant in our garden planting schemes it certainty draws the butterflies. Hoping to visit a site for the Chalkhill blues when and if the sun shines. For the birders amongst you fifteen Great-white-Egrets reported at Shapwick NNR .If you live nearby come and see these magnificent birds,my best count has been eight together early one morning, another successful breeding year ?.
