I've just uploaded my entry... but it calls me me not "contest".... is it the way I did it or is there a gremlin? I will change it anyway before June I'm sure, but would really rather be anonymous.... might even get a vote or two then

Not sure what you meant to type Rev! But, the album is marked as a contest album so that you can (in theory) only see your own name, but not every else's.

Ah yes - I put that back after we stopped the monthly comps :?

So - is anonymity (or rather, the lack of it) actually a problem given that the voting is by panel? Would appreciate everyone's thoughts.

Cheers,

Anonymity would be better for total transparency. There have been a few personal issues regarding photography on this site (it's probably the only aspect that ever leads to fallings out in fact).

Personally, I'm not worried either way. I actually enjoyed the challenge of trying to put a photographer's name to an image, but it certainly wouldn't affect which images I found most appealing.

Since Gary and I will be participating in the scoring, then that's not possible since all mods can see all information (nothing is hidden). Having said that, this hasn't been an issue when judging the annual comps.

I thought I had followed the instructions correctly but I see that my name is against my entry. No real worry. I think my photo style is a give-away in any case.

Only because of your new found skill with your new Panasonic Lumix FZ150 though!

We naturally trust the judging panel to select on merit of photographic quality and subject regardless of who takes the shot, so does it matter whether or not the photographer remains anon :?: We're all mature friendly souls on UK Butterflies so I very much doubt that there will be any petty squabbles...will there   :?
