If we now experience a period of cooler/average weather over the next couple of weeks, what are the butterflies such as Adonis, Small Blue, Wood White likely to do? Would they:-
a) Continue to emerge on an ongoing basis regardless, now there are some out?
or
b) Would the first group that have emerged do their thing and die and then there might be a period of no flying until a further emergence?
What Happens if We Return To Average Temps?
Re: What Happens if We Return To Average Temps?
Cooler weather won't stop them emerging as such, but what it will do is make the adults far less active and therefore less able to engage in breeding activity.
To be honest, a bit of rain (along with slightly cooler conditions) would be of benefit, since it would revive some of the plants which butterflies nectar and lay on.

Butterflies like Meadow Brown and Large/Small White will not be affected since they fly in dull weather, even seen them in slightly wet weather, others will probably get their chance given a good day here and there.
Cheers all,
