pupae or leaf?

pupae or leaf?

found this today.. is it a pupae (if so, of whom?) or just a crumpled leaf..

It does look rather like a Comma.
Is that an Elm? They do sometimes eat elms instead of nettles or hops, but you'd have thought the latter were much easier to find these days.

yep was an elm and an adult does regularly patrol this area. i'm gonna go for comma. cheers mate :)

Definitely a comma Nick, and elm is a frequently used food plant.
