Re: Goldie M

Thanks Maurice , I must admit I like photographing Butterflies more than flowers and yet It's the flowers that attract them and when they land on a flower this is more interesting to me than say, just seeing a Butterfly on a stalk of some kind or a leaf. :) I've just been viewing your shots of the O...

Re: Andrew555

I really envy your Grizzled Skipper Andrew, we don't see them up here and this year not having seen one at all yet it's on the top of my list. They come out in April which is quite early but I'm thinking there's a place in Shrewsbury where I might be able to see one without traveling too f...

Re: Goldie M

Hi! Mike, thanks for your post, it seemed a very strange plant growing out of the rocks at Gait Barrow so I'm glad to know it's name I'll look it up now. I love the Orchids but you don't see many Butterflies on them which is surprising. I like to take shots of them and look out for any unusual ones....

Re: Goldie M

Last year when we visited Gait Barrow I noticed this odd looking plant not yet in flower, I wonder if any one knows what it's called? I also noticed a lot more Orchids than usual in the different places I visited, I'm not too familiar with plants other than the ones the Butterflies like :D but to my...

Re: Silver-washed Fritillary – Favourite Photo of 2017

I'm afraid my trip to Fermyn Woods on the 14th of July , earlier than last year, was not as successful because of the early appearance of the Butterflies, I did see both White Admiral and Silver Washed Fritillary but the Emperor was high in the sky, so no shots for me of him this year :( The SWF's w...

Re: Goldie M

Thanks Bugboy, that was an interesting video, I never realised it was so difficult to tell these birds a part, knowing about their different songs will help if I see them again. :D Again a thank you David, Pennington Flash is very important to Bird photographers, when you visit in spring especially,...

Re: Goldie M

Hi! Allan, I think I see what you mean looking at the photo Mike sent but if I see the Birds again I think I may still need help with Id's :D At Penn Flash the area is quite large with lots of small and large lakes plus reed beds, you can walk in a circle a round these with Hides at nearly all of th...

Re: Goldie M

Thanks for your post Mike, but i shall probably still get mixed up with them  I've looked closely at the photo and the only difference I see is the Willow slightly smaller than the Marsh Tit :D I've seen them in the Garden and was convinced they were Coal Tits, I'm going to see if I can sort th...

Re: Goldie M

This afternoon we finally got out for a walk, we went to Penn Flash, it was foggy and cold but nothing like it had been over the last few day's when Temps here got no higher than -2 because of the bitter wind. I've started my year off well, I finally got some shots of a Wren :D I've tried for years ...

Re: Meadow Brown ab ? Gate Keeper ab ? Goldie

Thank's any way Blackfish, :D Thanks Pete, I didn't think the Gate Keeper was excssa , I was going off the six spots on it's outer wing rather than the extra spots on it's fore wing. :D It's also good to put a name in my ab column for the Meadow Brown, it's my first MB ab (Thanks again,) Goldie :D
