Re: Wurzel

Five Rivers 25-10-2017 Making the most of the half term break I took a quick jaunt while the girls were in the pool. I started off along the Riverpath deciding to wend my way along with the slight meanders and then cut up and across to the top of the Banks. There were still leaves on the trees but t...

Re: Bugboys mission

Great gif Bugboy :D and great set of bird shots :D I'd get that Pied/White checked out by the county bird recorder as I know that White Wagtails do pass through on passage and are probably under-recorded but I'm not sure how often they overwinter? If it is a White it would be a great find :D Have a ...

Re: Overall Favourite Photo of 2017

Overall Fave I really struggled to choose my overall Fave. It was hard enough selecting my favourites for each species so in the end I succumbed and made the task ever so slightly easier by opting for two... The first was from my first Welsh trip and covers the behaviour (a doomed courtship) and in ...

Re: Wurzel

Stourhead 22-10-2017 We are now entering the period of the year when any butterfly sighting should be cherished as if it is the last of the season because it could well be. So it was great to see a Red Admiral on Saturday 21st bravely battling before blustery Brian (storm) outside Waitrose. As my si...

Re: White-letter Hairstreak – Favourite Photo of 2017

White-letter Hairstreak This was taken on a totally awesome day at Bentley – I might have mentioned it previously WINK – when I encountered my first Silver-washed, DGF, His Nibbs, a Hedgie and a Purp as well as my first Whitter of 2017! This is actually my favourite ever Hairstreak shot to date as i...

Re: White Admiral – Favourite Photo of 2017

White Admiral This was taken at East Blean and I chose it because it’s one step closer to the prefect underwing shot that I’m striving for. It’s not square on an the wings are slightly raggedly but it’s the closest I’ve come to capturing the reds and oranges of the underwing…a couple more steps and ...

Re: Wall – Favourite Photo of 2017

Wall Brown This was taken on an excellent day out at the Hill. I was lucky this year to see several Walls so I had to think long and hard about the choice of my fave. This one won out as it turned up both ‘where’ and ‘when’ expected. The ‘where’ was at the bottom of the hill towards the far end of t...

Great shot Phil :D I've not seen them taking nectar from Daffs but I have seen a number using them it at a perch or roosting site, I reckon its because they have nice big petals and the tubular shape gives them strength :D
