Re: Wurzel

Shipton Bellinger 05-08-2017 So having to sit out the Brostreak fest that had been ensuing on UKButterflies I was finally back with time to spend at Shipton and wouldn’t you know it the weather which had been terrible in Wales was now not particularly crash hot round home. So I found myself playing ...

Re: Art Frames

I think a mixture of both types of image would be the best bet :D . As for me I do like the more 'gritty, harder almost more real' appearance. It reminds me that they're not just having a nice time flitting about in the sun but that they're struggling to survive :D Have a goodun Wurzel ps I was star...

That second one is radiata and caeruleopunctata   I know you asked to lower the expectations Gary but you needn't have - these are first class finds :D  It seems though that abs are like buses

Re: millerd

Lovely markings on the female Meadow Brown Dave, more sort of splodges than the usual 'wash' of orange :D After my last failed ID attempt on Philzoid's post I'm steering clear of any further ID's :?

Beautiful set of shots Peter, that first one in particular really allows you to appreciate the subtlety of the Small Copper underside in comparison to the almost brash topside :D

Re: millerd

Great set of shots Dave :D But it makes working out what's going on a bit tricky. There is a definite end of the season feel yet there are really fresh Common Blues and Small Heath :? Not that I'm complaining mind, an extension o butterflying is always welcome. :D

Re: Neil Freeman

Hope you get a few blues and maybe a Copper to add to the 6 species from your garden. :D Unfortunately it seems the season is going to be 'early to bed' :? Interesting to see such variation within a species, a bit like the range you can find in Heath Frits :D

Re: Bugboys mission

Thanks for the extra Meadow Browns Bugboy, funnily enough I found my own at Larkhill yesterday :D That is a lush female Blue, often nicer than the 'bluer' ones as the dark background really offsets the blue colour :D

Re: Wurzel

I'm hoping that the females will move from territory to territory until they find a male they approve of - so hopefully another male will hold territory there next season OR a pair might have already bred and we missed it, there were a good few males there so the habitat suits them, fingers crossed ...

Fantastic shots Dave, it's difficult keeping up with your rate of posting  :D  Those Commas are lush as are the Whites and the Blues, in fact they're all mighty good but the best of the lot for me was the third Hummingbird Hawkmoth - brilliantly captured especially when you consider ...
