i found a red admiral years back that hadnt had its wings pumped up properly, so i took it in and fed it on some buddlia cuttings and fruit, but died after a couplr of days, but at least had abit of life :)

small tort

hi anyone help me? ive a small tortoishell found its way into my flat prob to hibinate its on the back of one of my post shirts hanging on back of my bedroom door, it seems all tucked up, though noticed its antenae are out today, shall i leave it as it is till about feb or let it out on a fine day? ty

very sunny day on my post round in whitby, ellesmere port, saw half a dozen small tortoishells on peoples garden plants and a couple red admirals on fallen fruit and few whites and think it was a hedge brown :D

id say they were small tort, but hmm dont know of any moth that lays lots eggs on nettles? id go for small tort

thx lee not many round this part cheshire but think they re movin in now, lotta garden centres so they may have alder buckthorn/buckthorn shrubs there :D

we took the pup out earlier today as driving along saw what looked like large white butterfly, could it be or too early for whites? maybe a female brimstone? :D

im just back from paignton and saw a fritillary, think it was a dark green variety flyin over victoria park, stopped for few secs and had green sheen on wings, first one ive ever seen :D
