Happy New Year folks! I'm likely to be off to pastures new in 2021, leaving my beloved garden and Sussex behind, but I did get a late bonus of a brown hairstreak in my garden on 29th September this year.

30 November 2019 for the next one?

It's been quite a while since I've been butterflying but a trip to Denbies Hillside this morning turned up a good few species; green hairstreak, dingy skipper, brown argus, common blue, Adonis Blue, small heath and a beautiful small copper. Hopefully numbers here will continue to build.

I'm thinking of going on a butterflying holiday this summer. I'd like to go on an organised trip and wondered if members here could recommend any organisations please?

This looks to be a great opportunity and I'm trying to manage it this year as it would be good to meet people. Would also really enjoy a summer gathering/picnic at one of the often mentioned special sites (that I wouldn't see normally). Or maybe you do that and I missed it. Hope to be there. Peter ...

Red admirals still nectaring here in West Sussex and I found some brown hairstreak eggs last weekend at my local patch.
