Activity – Draw 4 simple butterfly outlines on stiff paper (or card). You may wish your outline to be more detailed and accurate. Once you have cut the butterflies out you can begin to decorate them. In doing this you can copy the markings of a particular species of butterfly or you may prefer to create your own butterfly markings. Now thread the needle with black cotton and tie a large knot at the end. Push the needle through the head of the first butterfly. Attach a thread to all of the other butterflies in the same way. Then, twist the pipecleaners together at the centres and tie each butterfly to a pipecleaner end so that it hangs on its thread. Finally, tie a loop of thread around the centre of the two pipecleaners and attach this to the ceiling or the lampshade. It is also good advice to hang these butterflies at different heights.
