Butterfly Conservation is a registered charity with a national membership of over 14,000. The Society is dedicated to the conservation of butterflies, moths and their habitats.

2010 Photography Competition - Open for Entries

The 2010 photography competition is now open for submissions! In keeping with the "online" nature of the UK Butterflies website, the competition itself will be conducted entirely over the web!

Prize

1st, 2nd and 3rd places for each category, as well as overall, will be announced in early November. The overall winning photo will also receive an autographed copy of the new edition of Britain's Butterflies, kindly donated by UK Butterflies sponsor, WildGuides.

Categories

The competition is broken down into the following categories:
  • Butterflies in the UK
  • Butterflies from Overseas
  • Immature Stages
  • Behaviour
  • Under 16s

Rules

  • An entrant may submit up to 3 photos in total (and *not* 3 photos per category).
  • All entries must be provided in digital form and must not exceed 800 x 800 pixels.
  • Only competitors under the age of 16 at 30th September 2010 may enter the under 16s category.
  • All photos must be taken in the wild.

Important Dates

  • 31st October 2010 - Closing date for submissions.
  • Early November 2010 - Winning entries will be announced.

Entering Your Photos

  1. Register with the UK Butterflies forums if you have not already done so.
  2. Navigate to the 2010 Photo Competition gallery.
  3. Select the appropriate album (there is an album per competition category).
  4. Upload your photo(s). To do this, click the "New Image" button and follow the instructions.
